9 11 Memorial 5K

The 2026 9/11 Memorial 5K has a new start / finish at the Lowndes County Historical Courthouse. 
Pre-race packet pick up will be held on Friday, Sept 4, 2026, from 3 to 5 pm at 4434 Forrest Street Ext.  Valdosta GA. Race day pick up will begin at 6:30 am
NEWS FLASH: THE SHIRT CUT OFF DATE WAS AUG 15, 2026. We have ordered extra shirts for late entries, but those runners may obtain their shirts after the race. Preferred size is NOT GUARANTEED. 


The 9/11 Memorial 5K is now officially USATF-certified! This means your run may qualify you for major events that require qualifying standards, such as the Peachtree Road Race and marathons like New York or Boston. USATF Certificate GA24032WC
On September 5th, 2026, the Valdosta Fire Department will hold its 5th annual 9/11 5k Memorial Run in remembrance of the events that transpired on September 11, 2001. The event is meant to pay homage to those who lost their lives or the lives of loved ones and to acknowledge all the brave first responders who have passed in the line of duty.  The race will have a patriotic theme, and the Fire Department encourages community members to show their support by lining the racecourse with decorated signs and/or costumes. 


Early entry fee is only $25 until midnight August 15, 2026. Late entry fee is $35 until 3pm on Sept 4, 2025 and then $40 on race day. First Responders are only $10.
ATTENTION FIRST RESPONDERS: If you are from
Lowndes County FD, Lowndes County SO,  Lowndes County 911,  Remerton FD, Tifton FD, Brooks FD, Moody FD, National Guard, Hahira FD, Valdosta PD, Valdosta FD, or any other agency, PLEASE join your respective team as there is a friendly Inter-Agency Competition with a trophy at stake and a prize package!

At 7:45 am, a speech from our City and County officials will be followed by the Moody AFB Honor Guard, and the race will begin promptly at 8am.
 The race start will be at the intersection of N Valley and N Patterson, just down the block from past years' starts and finishes.
The race will take place in Downtown Valdosta.  The course is a fast out-and-back running past Valdosta State University.
VOLUNTEERS are encouraged! 

100% of the race proceeds will be donated to Valor Service Dogs, Inc.

Awards will be presented to the top Overall male and female, Masters male and female, and the top two in the following age groups: 11 and Under, 12 - 14, 15- 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and Over.
We will also recognize the oldest and youngest finishers and the most patriotic.


Awards and 9-11 Ceremonies will commence at 9 am on the front courthouse lawn 100 E. Central Ave. Valdosta Ga.
